Mark Haldane Takes the Stage at the DSC Foundation Gala

The DSC Foundation Gala is one of the most anticipated evenings on the conservation calendar, bringing together hunters, conservationists, industry leaders, and supporters who are united by a shared commitment to wildlife conservation and the preservation of our hunting heritage.

This year, Zambeze Delta Safaris was honoured to have Mark Haldane serve as the keynote speaker, sharing the stage with Robbie Kroger, founder of the Origin Foundation. Together, they discussed the critical role that ethical hunting, conservation, and strong community partnerships play in protecting Africa’s wildlife for future generations.

Drawing on more than three decades of conservation work in Mozambique, Mark shared the remarkable story of the Zambeze Delta—one of Africa’s greatest conservation success stories. From restoring wildlife populations and strengthening anti-poaching efforts to supporting education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods for local communities, the presentation highlighted what can be achieved through long-term commitment and collaboration.

One of the evening’s most meaningful moments came when Mark had the privilege of presenting Craig Dixon with the prestigious DSC Foundation Green Jacket. Craig and the Dixon family have been close friends of Mark and supporters of conservation for many years, making it a truly special honour to recognise Craig’s outstanding contribution to the DSC Foundation.

The evening also held another unexpected honour for Mark, who was presented with a DSC Appreciation Award in recognition of his unwavering commitment to conservation and his continued support of the DSC Foundation’s mission.

The award reads:

“Extending our most sincere appreciation for your support and unwavering commitment to DSC and our mission of ensuring the future of our hunting heritage through combined conservation.”

Receiving this recognition reflects not only Mark’s dedication but also the incredible efforts of the entire Zambeze Delta Safaris team and the many partners who have contributed to the conservation success of the Zambeze Delta over the years.

The conservation conversations continued throughout the DSC Summer Convention, where Mark also had the opportunity to spend time with renowned outdoor writer, television host, and conservation advocate Craig Boddington. Events like these provide an invaluable platform to share ideas, strengthen friendships, and continue promoting sustainable conservation on a global stage.

We extend our sincere thanks to the DSC Foundation for hosting such an inspiring event and for recognising those who continue to champion wildlife conservation. It was an honour for Mark to represent Zambeze Delta Safaris and to share the story of the Zambeze Delta with so many passionate conservationists.

As we look to the future, our mission remains unchanged: protecting wildlife, supporting local communities, and ensuring that one of Africa’s last great wilderness areas continues to thrive for generations to come.
