Four Giants of the Zambezi:
A Week of Crocodile Hunting Success

Crocodile Hunt Zambeze Delta Safaris

Last week in the Upper Zambezi was one for the books four massive Nile crocodiles were successfully hunted under the expert guidance of Zambeze Delta Safaris’ PH Poen. These hunts weren’t just about trophies they were about skill, patience, and a deep respect for the wild waterways of Mozambique.

A Hunt Built on Strategy and Stillness
The Upper Zambezi is known for its shifting waters, high reeds, and elusive giants. Each hunt began with hours of glassing and baiting, identifying mature crocs that had grown wary of any disturbance. With their armor-like hides and stealthy movements, crocodiles offer one of the most challenging hunts Africa has to offer and last week delivered four textbook examples of what
makes this pursuit so rewarding.

Poen Leads from the Front
PH Poen’s calm leadership and sharp instinct were crucial to each hunt’s success. Whether lying in wait at sunrise or navigating dense riverine brush, he guided hunters into perfect position each shot measured, deliberate, and well-earned. His deep knowledge of crocodile behavior played a key role, turning tense moments into unforgettable victories.

Four Hunts, Four Stories
From mid-morning ambushes to last-light encounters, every crocodile taken this week tells its own story. Each one a mature, battle-scarred specimen reminders of the thriving ecosystem that exists here thanks to years of conservation and sustainable management.

Why This Matters
These hunts are part of a bigger picture. By targeting older, dominant males, we help maintain balance in local crocodile populations and reduce human-wildlife conflict along the river. And each client who joins us contributes to this model supporting anti-poaching efforts, conservation programs, and community initiatives that protect the Zambezi Delta for generations to come.
