The Okavango Delta is an area of crystal clear water, wooded islands,
grass covered flood plains and vast reed and papyrus beds. The area is
well known for its birdlife, with over 400 species having been recorded
in the area.
In addition it is the home of the rare Sitatunga antelope, and of
the Lechwe, another antelope which has adapted to the marshy area.
The Moremi Reserve encompasses 8250 square kilometers of pristine
wilderness and supports the most diverse habitat and animal populations
in Botswana. Located in the eastern sector of the Okavango Delta, the
Reserve is completely flat, with a network of numerous waterways
between reed beds and islands of mixed woodland.
Moremi is Big Game country with a wide variety of species represented.
The re-emergence of the Wild Dog is of great interest to conservationists.
